About
I'm Kevin Thomas, an engineer who likes owning a system end to end: designing it, automating it, and running it for real users afterwards. Everything on this site runs in my homelab, from a Git-driven container platform and single sign-on to a monitoring stack and game servers my friends play on every week.
How I work
- Everything in Git. Configuration, infrastructure and even dashboards are code, applied by script with a dry run first.
- Least privilege by default. Each token, user and route gets only what it needs. Secrets stay out of repositories.
- Measure, then trust. Every service has a health check, and the numbers on this site come from live data.
- Leave it better documented. Each change comes with a commit message explaining why, and a runbook when it's operational.
Toolbox
Docker and Compose, Terraform, Packer, Ansible, GitHub Actions, Python, Bash, Prometheus and VictoriaMetrics, Uptime Kuma, Nginx, Cloudflare, OIDC (Pocket ID, Tinyauth), Linux and KVM/QEMU, plus C++ and Django when a project calls for it.
